Curriculum Consultancy & Training – Choose your session or discounted bundle
Since September 2014, the National Curriculum for Computing has formed a statutory part of the National Curriculum for maintained schools in England and Wales.
The ICT Service believes that the best approach to deliver this exciting Computing Curriculum is to continue to focus on pupils’ computing capability with a strong emphasis on progression.
We have therefore developed the Cambridgeshire Progression in Computing Capability Materials and encourage schools to use these materials as a framework for building their own, personalised scheme of work. The materials can be accessed at ccc-computing.org.uk.

“Thank you for last night’s successful staff training. We enjoyed your approach to a
subject that some of us are more than a little fearful of!”

We offer the following that can be purchased individually or as a discounted session bundle:
Introduction to Computing – Full Staff Meeting |
1.5 hours |
A session designed to provide all staff with a ‘broad brush’ overview of the requirements of the 2014 Computing Curriculum and what this means in practical terms. This session includes getting to grips with the terminology involved through hands-on activities. We aim to help staff break the curriculum down into manageable ‘themes’ and explore the need for progression in computing capability throughout the school. This session can be adapted for schools who feel they have not yet fully embraced the Computing Curriculum as well as schools who need a refresher due to staff changes.

Focus on a Computing Theme – Full Staff Meeting |
1.5 hours |
A session designed to concentrate all staff on one major theme of your choice within the Computing Curriculum, such as:
Explore and develop this theme in detail, considering the need for progression, age appropriate resources and suitable activities.
|
Focus on Planning for Computing
|
1.5 hours |
A session designed to provide support for all staff in practically planning out what they will actually do to develop the Computing Curriculum in terms of lesson ideas and contexts etc. We will utilise the Cambridgeshire Progression in Computing Capability materials, and align this with your curriculum themes and other curriculum areas. Planning sessions are also available for schools who are still developing their own approach or
have adopted a scheme of work to help you personalise your school curriculum.

Classroom-Based Support – Pupil Workshop |
2 hours |
Teachers often describe these sessions as one of the most useful ways of building their confidence. Let us work alongside staff, with your pupils, for an afternoon of tasks based on an agreed area of the Computing Curriculum. We will assist staff in using the school’s own kit with your pupils and overcoming any obstacles you face on a day-to-day basis in your classrooms. We can also bring along additional resources to supplement your school’s existing technology. Additional Classroom or Staff Workshops
Sign up for an additional staff INSET or pupil workshop to enrich your current provision. |
