School Workforce Census – Thursday 8 November 2018
This year’s School Workforce Census is on Thursday 8 November 2018.
Please don’t wait until Census day to start working on it or you will risk encountering problems with very little time to resolve them.
Please be aware that ALL schools will need to update their own Payscales manually. The number of different scales has made it unmanageable for The ICT Service to produce a standard set for import into SIMS this year. You can obtain lists of the scales your school uses from your payroll provider.
The current Validation Fileset for this census is 1006 (this should already have been imported for the School Autumn census)
Please note: The School Workforce Census now collects Teacher Status rather than Teacher Category (located on the Employment Details tab). Members of staff can hold more than one Teacher status.
Teacher Status is indicated by a new tick box located on the Professional Details tab in Staff Details in SIMS. Select the QT Status (Qualified Teacher), QTLS Status (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) and/or EYT Status (Early Years Teacher) check boxes, if applicable.
If the staff member has Qualified Teacher Status, ensure that applicable route is selected from the QTS Route drop-down list, e.g. Graduate Teacher Programme, Flexible Routes, etc. (This is mandatory for all teachers, including those working towards QTS.)
Check your Census Summary carefully. Pay particular attention to Panel A on Staff Records and contracts/Service Agreements. There should NOT be staff with neither contracts or service agreements. Any number in this box will need investigating.
