Overview...
The impact of the COVID-19 lockdown means that many of us are now working remotely. This may feel like a challenge, but we are still here to support you.
In order to help you with the current requirement to input your budget into FMS from Orovia, we have scheduled a number of 1-2-1 session options offering you the opportunity to work on your budget with Kathleen Ryans. Your booking will be for a total of two remote half hour sessions (over two consecutive days) plus a follow up phone call with Kath at a later date.
If you are new in post, or if you are not sure of what you are required to do, and you would like some guidance and reassurance, then consider booking one of the new alternative Budget Input & Managing Commitment sessions.
It is important that you give yourself the time and space to prioritise the importance of achieving your objective whilst working alone.
Objectives...
In session one you will aim to:
- understand the importance of Commitment and Compliance.
- manually input the 2021 budget into FMS from Orovia Cost Centre V Funding Report.
- work on your own data via remote access to a fully balanced status with expert assistance. This is especially relevant due to the overloaded ledger codes within the 111GEN cost centre.
We will get you started and talk you through the process of adding the Orovia budget for 2021-2022. Working together to input the figures from Orovia into FMS, both Income and Expenditure.
You will be well on the way to adding your budget with clear and concise instruction, checking as you go that your figures balance.
We must remember that FMS is your prime record for coding and recording funding, income and expenditure, whereas Orovia is the prime record for budget amounts. With this in mind any additional ledger codes required within FMS will have to be sanctioned by SSCT before applying into FMS.
In session two you will aim to:
- follow on from the previous session, ironing out any problem areas, concerns and queries.
- look at your Profiles within FMS.
- edit FMS ledger codes profiles to the most appropriate.
- where possible, edit your structure, removing unnecessary codes and/or long redundant – a time saving exercise which will help cut down on errors.
- set up recurring journals for standing orders and direct debits. Logging the commitment across the year helps with forecasting mid-year.
- set up the new purchase card and internal direct debit systems to comply with the County financial regulations.
- understand Commitment and Compliance WHY they are important!
Please ensure you have a hard copy of the Budget from Orovia.
