All staff in schools concerned with Data Protection

Overview...
During the time we have spent supporting schools we have generated many an interesting conversation around the subject of Data Protection with many of you commenting that the revised 2018 Act and associated UK GDPR Legislation is nothing more than ‘an arduous paperwork exercise that gets in the way of teaching and learning’. We want to take this opportunity to help you understand that this is so very much than a paperwork exercise and it isn’t going away. It’s paperwork that protects you and your organisation from serious issues arising.
Join us for an all-new scenario-based one hour workshop that will open your eyes and help you to problem solve many issues you may encounter surrounding data protection, plus allow you to network with likeminded colleagues.
We will be working through some dos and don’ts, providing real life scenarios and encouraging you to answer the question – ‘What would you do?’
Our list below gives you an indication of serious issues that have actually arisen as a result of NOT taking the advice of the Do’s and Don’ts – so DO book onto one of our sessions to find out more about what to do to deal with issues and how you can avoid them.
- Don’t assume that data protection doesn’t concern you or needs to change your existing ways of working.
- Don’t assume all emails received are from a genuine sender, especially if the ‘sender’ is asking for money.
- Don’t leave any items of school related data unattended or unsecure.
- Don’t ignore a request for data
- Don’t use your personal social media accounts for anything related to your work.
- Don’t ignore a complaint around your school’s handling of data.
- Don’t ignore an ICO complaint.
- Do seek advice and be aware of the pitfalls if you don’t.
Do any of these scenarios sound familiar to you? Maybe you have been impacted by some of these issues yourself. If you haven’t then you may experience them in the near future – be prepared – join us for a workshop where experiences will be shared and you will be able to join in and learn more about avoiding issues.
