Remote Access

Your data safe and secure, available anywhere and at any time

The challenge

Data held by schools can be sensitive in nature. There is an increasing requirement for this data to be made available safely and securely, anywhere and at any time, for staff, students and parents. The protection of school information is high profile; schools are responsible for ensuring this data is kept safe and secure.
The ICT Service in turn is responsible for ensuring the protection of any data held centrally through Central Hosting. Any sensitive data needs to be protected by more than just a user ID and password; schools need to be able to demonstrate they are protecting their sensitive data using a further authentication mechanism to identify authorised users.

The solution

High Security Remote Access
For staff needing access to sensitive resources hosted in your school or centrally, you need to opt for our High Security Remote Access.
This solution can give your staff access to a full, secured desktop environment or sensitive webbased information. This system uses industry standard technologies to protect your data. We provide a
secure token (key fob) with a PIN which you use in conjunction with your User ID and Password. This gives you the additional level of authentication needed to provide the ‘something you have’ and ‘something you know’ 2-factor authentication system.

This service is priced per key fob.

Standard Security Remote Access
For staff, students, parents and governors using nonsensitive resources hosted in your school we can also provide our Standard Security Remote Access.
The solution for schools that want to provide access to
non-sensitive information to staff, students, parents and governors, enabling them to safely publish resources.
This is only for access to systems not requiring 2-factor
authentication. This service has a set base price and
is charged based on the number of pupils on roll only.
You may allow parents and governors to access this
system and only pay for the number of pupils on roll.
Fair usage terms and conditions apply.

How our service works

For schools signing up to this service for the first time, we will liaise with your leadership and technical teams to gauge requirements. From then, we will provide technical expertise to implement a solution that publishes your resources through the appropriate mechanism.

  • For High Security Remote Access, we will provide the requisite number of key fobs.
  • For Standard Security Remote Access we will publish the necessary resources and provide instructions to your ICT team to ensure all staff, students, parents and governors can access published systems.
All of these solutions allow you to access resources safely, according to the level of security defined by the school. If you have remote access requirements that fall outside the typical offerings indicated above, please do contact us and we will be delighted to work with you.
