Apple iPad Training in Your School

For schools beginning to explore the potential of mobile technology we can offer the following range of sessions.

iPad in an Hour (and a bit)

The iPad seems to be transforming the way we use technology in school and we are still in an early stage of exploring its potential about what works and what doesn’t. If you are thinking about the role of mobile technology in your school or classroom then let us show you what the device can offer. Using the ICT Service set of iPads we will talk about why it is a great device for teaching and learning, and also demonstrate some of the apps which schools are beginning to find useful to support their curriculum planning.

Either book an adviser to come to your school or bring your staff to The ICT Service Training Centre in St Ives.  Here are some typical sessions we are currently offering, please contact us to discuss a bespoke session for staff.

Apps to support literacy in the primary school

Although we live at a time of multi-media where visuals and audio continually bombard our senses, text is not going away any time soon and there are many Apps offering opportunities for learners to create and develop original ideas and stories. Let us show you some of our favourites Apps for supporting and developing Literacy across the curriculum.

Apps to support numeracy

There are many numeracy apps available in the App Store, many written specifically for teaching and learning purposes. Without spending large amounts of money see which Apps for both the iPad and the iPod Touch can support your Numeracy Plans.

iPad Impact for SEN

One of the clearest indications of the educational impact that iPads are having is their impact on children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Let us show you the accessibility settings and see how an iPad can assist children with a variety of special needs including: visual impairment, hearing impairment and children with an autistic spectrum disorder.

‘In addition to the many features that make iPad easy to use for everyone, iPad includes many accessibility features, which are designed to make it easier for users with visual, auditory, or other physical disabilities to use iPad’.

Suitable for teachers and co-ordinators, TAs and Parents of children with SEN

In response to requests from schools we are continually expanding our repertoire and developing a wider range of courses using mobile technology.
