Apple Regional Training Centre

Cambridgeshire Apple Regional Training Centre, based at The ICT Service, offers educators in the local area the opportunity to learn how Apple technology can make a difference to teaching and learning in the classroom.

Being selected as an Apple Regional Training Centre highlights our commitment to facilitating training for teachers to develop skills and build confidence to use Apple technology effectively in the classroom.

Apple Regional Training Centres deliver courses to build the skills and confidence of educators to use Apple technology to support teaching and learning. They are a community who share best practices and inspire excellence through teaching with Apple technology.
 
Apple Regional Training Centres create a community to share best practice and support teaching staff to attain Apple Teacher status, a professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators.
 
Teachers from across the region can attend courses to build their knowledge and skills using technology in the classroom and earn badges to achieve their Apple Teacher recognition.  All of our course are led by an accredited Apple Education Trainer.
 
Across the UK and Ireland, the goals of all Apple Regional Training Centres are to:
 
  • facilitate training opportunities for teachers to develop skills using Apple technology in the classroom
  • promote Apple in Education and share new products and innovations with educators
  • build Apple Teacher across the region
  • share best practices, build community and inspire excellence.

Apple Teacher Workshops:

Getting Started with iPad

Wednesday 24 January 2018, 2.00 - 4.30pm
Tuesday 24 April 2018, 2.00 - 4.30pm 

The ICT Service Training Centre, St Ives 

Supporting Learning with iPad : This workshop will focus on the wealth of built-in features on the iPad to support learning, including how to use your iPad as a mobile visualiser and make the most of accessibility features.
 
Emphasis will be on features and skills that can be used to support learning in the classroom.
 
By the end of this session, you will be able to take the iPad Starter Apple Teacher badge.

Fostering Creativity with iPad

Wednesday 23 May 2018, 2.00 - 4.30pm

Creativity is often quoted as one of the most essential traits for working in the 21st Century.
 
During this session you will work through examples of workflows involving several apps and have ideas and inspiration for taking these techniques for learning straight back into the classroom.
 
By the end of this session, you will be able to take the Fostering Creativity Apple Teacher badge.

Coding with Swift Playgrounds

Swift Playgrounds provides teachers and pupils with a comprehensive set of tools and resources for developing their coding skills and capability in programming.
 
This session will introduce you to the Swift Playgrounds environment including apps, lesson plans and resources to support you in the classroom.

Writing with iPad

If used well, technology can positively impact on all parts of the writing process in KS1 and KS2. This hands-on session will give you the opportunity to consider how you can make the most of your iPads to:
 
  • Generate and collect ideas for writing

  • Use a core selection of apps to create and present writing
  • Share work in a variety of ways

Reading with iPad

Are you tentative about using the iPad for reading with your pupils? Don't know what the advantages and disadvantages are?
 
Maybe you want to give it a go but don't know what texts to use or want to explore how you can best use iPads to help children respond to texts they have read. 
 
This workshop will explore these issues and suggest some apps, books and techniques to get you started.

Maths with iPad

This session will focus on using iPads to support and enhance learning in Maths.  In this session, we will explore different types of apps including specific maths apps as well as content free apps which can be used to record and evidence learning.
 
Additionally, we will look at the best way to evaluate maths apps to ensure that any future app choices make a significant contribution to children's learning.
