Year End Procedures in SIMS

End of Year Procedures in SIMS Guidance Notes are available for download from the Learn Together Hub.

These procedures should be followed to ensure a smooth transition from the current academic year into 2017-18.

Workshops are available, at The ICT Service Training Centre, for users who are new to this procedure, or for those who would like to get out of the office, to escape interruptions, and carry out the Year End procedures with expert support at hand.

SIMS End of Academic Year

  • Tues 27 June 2017, 9.30am - 12.00pm
  • Weds 28 June 2017, 1.30pm - 4.00pm
  • Tues 11 July 2017, 9.30am - 12.00pm
  • Fri 14 July 2017, 9.30am - 12.00pm
All schools must ensure that the new Academic Year has been created well before the end of the current academic year.

We recommend this process should be carried out when there are a minimal number of other users logged into SIMS – please ensure that the dates entered are correct (editing incorrectly entered dates can lock SIMS for a very long time).

If the dates of training days are not yet decided, these can be added later via the School Calendar in SIMS – this process does not require the same amount of processing power.

Once the new year has been created the Promotion Routine can be run so that, on the first day of the next academic year, all pupils will be automatically promoted into their new academic year.
