New 'Platinum' Unit for ACE (Accredited Competence in E-Safety)

Purpose: Advance notice for schools using the ACE scheme of work
Audience: Primary schools and Starz+ subscribing schools.

The ACE Platinum Unit has been released and will be with Starz+ subscribing schools shortly as part of the full ACE (Accredited Competence in E-Safety) scheme of work for primary school children.

The Platinum resources are for those children who have completed the Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels and should be managed as a stand-alone resource once the awareness of pupils has been determined.  This could be done in a number of ways - by listening/talking to pupils informally about their online practices and behaviour, conducting a survey of the class or presenting children with some scenarios for discussion and then listening to their discussion.

Once you have a clear picture about who might be ‘at risk’ in terms of their use of technology or online behaviour you should consider covering one of the focussed units with just those individuals/groups.

The units of work currently released cover:

  • Online learning
  • Photo and Video Sharing
  • Rights and Responsibilities
The ACE scheme of work is also available to non-subscribing Starz+ schools, please contact us for further details.  Call 0300 300 0000 or email support@theictservice.org.uk
