Signing up to Services for 2016-17

Purpose: Information about annual signup for services from The ICT Service
Audience:  All Cambridgeshire Maintained Primary, Special and Nursery Schools 

We have now sent all Cambridgeshire Maintained Schools an email containing a link to view our NEW Guide to Services 2016-17 and a separate email to schools containing a link to the online signup form and the PVN (Personal Verification Number) to access it.
 
This year’s Guide contains full details about services and support provided by The ICT Service.  We aim to ensure that you have all the information you need to cover your school’s requirements for the coming 2016-17 year, including:
  
  • Annual Support Package Options - Core, Enhanced, EnhancedPlus AND the NEW EnhancedPlus Bundles – our most comprehensive support packages for schools
  • New Discounted Consultancy and Training Session Bundles, including SIMS New User and FMS New User Bundles.

To make the process even easier, we have also provided a separate price list to help you plan.
Please let us know if you didn’t receive the original email, and we will resend it to your school.

The 'Capturing Creativity' Conference - For your Classroom Staff!

Purpose: Reminder - Information and to register an interest
Audience: Classroom Staff in Primary Schools

The ELearning Team at The ICT Service has planned a day of hands-on workshops for delegates of the Capturing Creativity Conference, to be held on:
 
Tuesday 22 March 2016
9.30am – 4.00pm
Cambridge Golf and Conference Centre, Hemingford Abbots.
 
Children don't just consume; with the right opportunities they are also creators.  Our conference for primary school practitioners will explore the 'pallette of possibilities' technology offers.

  • Making a Radio Play

ACE Bronze Shared Project

Purpose:  A shared project for schools
Audience: All Starz+ Subscribing Schools and those interested in E-Safety Learning

A further project has now been shared with all Starz+ subscribing schools – ACE Bronze
 
This project can be used in conjunction with ACE (Bronze Award) teaching to help consolidate children’s E-Safety learning.  Get more information, plus find out how to download your own copy of the project.

Parent Evening Booking Tool

Purpose: Information about booking parent evening appointments
Audience: All Starz+ subscribing schools

Have you tried using the FREE Parent Evening Booking tool?
 
Follow the example of Wendy at Ashbeach Primary and you too could be saving office time by letting parents book their own consultation session. 
 
After using the tool, Wendy said “It was so much easier than before, we shall definitely be using it again!”

Cambridge Science Festival 2016

Purpose: For information
Audience: All schools interested in local events/activities

The 2016 Cambridge Science Festival kicks off on Monday 7 March until Sunday 20 March 2016.
 
With a huge range of events happening during the festival, take a good look at the website and make sure you don’t miss out (especially as some talks, sessions and workshops must be booked in advance).

Battle of the Poets - Collaborative Project 

Purpose:  Invitation to view and comment
Audience: All Primary Schools

Pupils in several primary schools around the county have been busy crafting and performing poems for Her Majesty The Queen in celebration of her 90th birthday later in the year.
 
At this stage in the project you are invited to view their performances and become a ‘Critical Friend’ providing the children with constructive feedback. All performances can be viewed here.
 
An invitation to view the work has also been sent to Her Majesty and staff at Buckingham Palace!
 
 
 

Purple Mash - How effectively are you using it?

Having been lucky enough to have recently joined the Thriplow Primary school staff for their Purple Mash training session, the ELearning Team are excited about some of the opportunities it offers – in particular, the option to share and celebrate through the Purple Mash Display Boards, which can be embedded on your website.

On Saturday 12 March 2016 The ICT Service will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on Centrally Hosted Systems.
 
The following systems will therefore be unavailable between 7.00am and approximately 7.00pm on Saturday 12 March 2016 
 
  • Centrally Hosted Email (Email sent to accounts during this time will still be delivered)
  • Remote Access
  • School based systems via Remote Access
  • www.cambsed.net
  • Video Conferencing
